Royal Egypt - muhammad ali Pasha Egypt

This is a tour around some royal palaces that belong to a remarkable period from Egyptian History, when Egypt was ruled Muhammad Ali Pasha, then his family. That period started 1805, and lasted until 1952.

This tour is using Google Maps, and Street Views in order to visualize some of the the royal palaces in Cairo and Alexandria.

Abdeen Palace

This is one of the most famous buildings from that historical period. The beautiful Abdeen Palace was officially inaugurated in 1874. It was built under the rule of Ismail Pasha, to become Egypt’s official government headquarters instead of the Citadel of Cairo (which had been the center of Egyptian government since the Middle Ages).

Montazah Place

Montazah Palace is located in Alexandria. It was built in 1892 under the rule of Khedive Abbas II.

Prince Mohamed Ali Palace (Al Manial Palace)

This palace is located in Al Manial District, Cairo. It was built by Prince Mohammed Ali Tewfik.

Princess Nemat Allah Palace

Princess Nemat Allah is the grand daughter of  Ismail Pasha. Her palace is located cloase to Tahrir Square and Kasr El-Nil bridge.

Gezeirah palace (Marriott Hotel)

this palace was built under the rule of Ismail Pasha for entertaining visiting international dignitaries during the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869. Currently, it is part f Marriott Hotel in Zamalek.

Zaafaran Palace

Zaafaran (saffron) palace was built during the regime of Ismail Pasha. It received its name from the saffron plantations which then existed around the palace. currently, it is an administrative building inside the campus of Ain Shams univeristy.
